"What distinguishes a Holy Family from the other, is not that it lacks disasters or problems, or that God prevents evils from occurring within it. What distinguishes a Holy Family is their Faithfulness and Love for each other, despite these difficulties. And this is where the treasure lies."

Tuesday/July 3

The weather was gorgeous again today and since Wayne was off he was able to get some things done in the yard. I found an old washtub at a yard sale (for only $3) and we planted the red honeysuckle in it. I think it'll look great when it fills in.

The girls got a package from my mom and dad today. For Megan's birthday she got a Hawaiian milk bottle and a beanie baby from the company my dad works for. For Kaila's graduation my parents gave her a sizeable monetary gift and a book by Dave Ramsey. Thanks mom and dad!

I took Cory, Kaila, Megan, Matthew & Emma to see the movie "Ratatouille." Wayne stayed home with Max and Gerard. The kids loved the *short* and liked the movie.

For dinner we had turkey, rice and green beans. I made the turkey breasts in the crockpot. After the turkey was done, I removed it from the crockpot. Then I added to the broth in the crockpot a family size can of cream of chicken, poultry seasoning and minute rice. Wayne made a fruit salad for tomorrow.

After dinner the girls and I went to Walmart. :::groan::: It's a necessary evil for us to shop there. With a family of our size, we need to save money wherever we can. We bought a Tracfone for Cory since he had much difficulty accessing the pay phone at school. Kaila bought lots of fleece to make *prayer blankets* as gifts for her dad's birthday(army print) and for Emma's birthday (Little Mermaid print).

When we got home I put together an ice cream cake to freeze overnight. It's all sugar-free, so no guilt. :::grin:::

Matthew's sensory behaviors are becoming much more noticeable. Almost every shirt he owns has holes in them from biting them. I remember my friend Judy telling me about fish tank tubing but I am concerned the plastic may have chemicals in it. Matthew suggested tying string around his neck for him to chew on but I'm concerned about it being a strangling hazzard. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Michelle,
My Matthew and Jonah both bite their shirts. So did Rachel and Daniel and some of the younger girls (maybe Hannah). I love the chicken and rice idea and will try it. I have done it in a frying pan but the family got too big. A big crock pot may work. I want to see Kaila's fleece blankets when complete.

How was Ratatouille? While in Berlin we saw Pirates III and Shrek the Third.
I take it Max didn't earn a trip to the movies? :(
Hang in there... he's got the best mom now....

Michelle,
For Matthew, maybe you could make some sort of necklaces out of cloth, loomed or braided together and attached with a snap. I found the thing I was thinking about, but don't know how to add a link here, so I will email it to you.
Did the headphone idea work>

Renee,
I'm sorry it took me so long to respond but I needed to think about your question a bit. After talking with the kids, we all agreed that we liked the short better than the movie. The movie wasn't nearly as funny as we hoped it would be. You guessed correctly-Max had only one sheet of math left to complete and refused to do it (kept erasing his own correct answers).

We shop at Walmart too! I try to go during the week mid morning... Otherwise it's a nightmare parking and go through the mass of people there...
